Sim Only Mobile Review – Live Connected Plans (December 2015)
In December 2013, the Live Connected plans were relaunched as the Rapid 4G range. The new range does not offer much by way of good news or better value with the $13 plan being removed and the starting point now sitting at $19/mth. For your $19 you receive 300MB, unlimited TXT and $300 in call value. The next step sits at $23/mth with 1GB data and $500 in calls unlimited TXT within Australia. For an additional $6/mth you receive 1.5GB and $650 in calls and then pricing jumps to $49/mth with unlimited calls and TXT/MMS to anyone in Australia plus 3GB of Optus 4G data. Remember this is the Optus 4G network so it is a little difficult to compare to the likes of Amaysim and Boost Mobile which offer better value for $40 both only give you access to the 3G network.
My Own Live Connected Plans Experience
I have been using Live Connected for over 2 years now and I don’t have anything bad to say about the pricing nor the service. I experienced an issue with my phone about 12 months ago and thought that it might be the sim card at fault and customer service whilst taking a few days to contact me issued me with a replacement pretty much straight away free of charge. Keeping track of usage is pretty easy, you can login to the online portal to see all sim cards that you have attached to your account. Image below shows you the calls you have made the data you have used. The billing is month to month and the only time I have been charged extra is when I did an auto return call from a phone message. Learn’t that lesson quickly. Probably the only issue I have with billing is that for the first 12 months I received a PDF of the monthly invoice, late last year this stopped suddenly (I put it down to a spam issue at my end as it was fixed by replacing the email on my account). I receive great value by having my partner on the same plan. Being able to make lots of calls to each other and not having it count towards my allowance is really handy. Live Connected pricing was what brought so many customers across to them for so long. Over the past 2 years however it has gradually increased where today it still OK value but no where as good value as it used to be. The one good thing is that data speeds are now 4G if you have a compatible 4G mobile phone. I am yet to move to the new 4G network but can honestly say I am generally pretty happy with my experience so far.
