Prepaid Mobile Review – Vodafone Prepaid Mobile

September 2009 Vodafone have completed a complete revamp of their prepaid mobile offer. From close to 10 prepaid mobile plans, cover Night talker, TXT, Talk and various combinations in between, we now have a more streamlined approach with 3 key plans, 365 Day Recharge, Talk & TXT and the Flexi Cap range. Certainly makes my life easier reviewing their prepaid mobile range. It also makes yours in comparing them. The most powerful thing about the Vodofone prepaid offer is certainly the introduction of Flexi Credit which allows you to select how you wish to spend it (includes Data like Facebook & Twitter, other networks, TXT and other Vodafone value offers) and probably more importantly the Vodafone to Vodafone Credit.

A $20 recharge will give you $20 Flexi Credit as well as 50 mins free Vodafone talk time. This scales to 850 mins with a $150 recharge. If your average calls are 2-3 mins, that is a lot of calls in a 2 month period (60 day expiry). And if you are after some longevity, ie want the credit to last a while, you could buy yourself a 365 Recharge Plan, add $150 Credit onto it and it will give you 400 calls over the year to your Vodafone friends. So it pays to have friends/family on the network. The Talk & TXT Plans offer quite a bit of additional value over and above the Vodafone talk time. They also offer free Talk and free TXT. So with $20 you get $20 Flexi Credit, 50 mins Vodafone talk, 20 free TXT and 10 mins free talk to any network. This scales to 400 TXT and 800 minutes when you recharge for $150 (also includes 850 Vodafone talk and $150 flexi credit). These are good value plans if you can stick within the credit limits. I say this because, the calls rates are quite high compared to others. At 39c with a 35c flagfall, its pricey.

The Flexi Cap range are all about flexibility. With $29, you get $150 Flexi Credit and $150 Vodafone talk. This increases to $1250 on the $149 Cap. Again great value if you can stick within the credit limits. Calls rates at 44c with a 35c flagfall is high.

Overall, I think the improvements made by Vodafone are great and the plans offer great value.
