| The Green Mobile story is as follows; 10% of what you spend on making mobile calls every month is given to the Australian Rainforest Foundation. They use it as part of a program to plant more trees in the Daintree Rainforest in North Queensland. They (and we) believe that this is one of the most effective ways of combating climate change as the trees help reduce the greenhouse gas emisions that is impacting on our atmosphere.Great to see revenue being put back into our environment. In terms of the plans, each plan is a monthly arrangement, meaning no contract. Stay for as along as you like. The first plan costs you $19 per month and offers $80 in call credit plus 50MB. The next step up you have the GreenPlan 29 which for $29 per month gives you $200 in call credits plus 200MB data. At the other end of the scale you have the 79 GreenPlan which for $79 per month gives you $900 in call credits and 1GB of data. The final plan is the GreenPlan 99 (originally $129) offering $1250 in call credits and 1.5GB of data.Call rates are average in terms of what the market offers, a 2 minute call will set you back $2.15. At the top end, $99 plan will give you 581 calls.Whilst I commend the initiative to give back to the environment these certainly are not the best value plans in the market. Look at Exetel, TPG and even Live Connected for better value. |
