Prepaid Mobile Broadband Review – Vodafone (April 2012)
The one thing about Vodafone is that they have put significant effort into promoting the Prepaid Mobile Broadband starter kits. If they aren’t selling them with some offer on their website then they are running a promotion via either the Woolworths or Coles stores. This offers you a great way to get started with your online experience. At the moment their website is selling the USB starter kit for $49 with 3GB of data. Following this you have what is the best range of recharge options in the market place. From 600MB at $19 up to 22GB for $200. Vodafone gives you plenty of options regarding how much you wish to recharge. At $19, 600MB is a little pricy for me, I would have preferred to have seen 1GB (Virgin is 1GB and Optus is 575MB). However what they do offer you is the ability to access up to 22GB (used to be 30GB) of data and even rollover up to 15GB (this used to be 25GB) at any one time. The Vodafone network is improving and my own experiences with it around Melbourne and even Sydney have been great. But it is best to ensure that you have adequate coverage wherever you live and with any network you decide to go with.

Vodafone also offer month to month plans. No contract leave when you want. 2GB for $19 (better value than prepaid), 4GB at $29 rising up to $49 for 12GB. These do offer better value then prepaid and if you do have your own USB modem then you should consider them particularly given you can leave whenever you like.
